If you’ve ever wished for a brownie that feels decadent and indulgent but still aligns with your real food lifestyle, well then this will be your new favorite brownie recipe!
These brownies check all the boxes. They are completely gluten and grain free, can be easily made dairy free, they are naturally sweetened and at the same time outrageously fudgy, soft and full of rich chocolatey goodness!

My family does not need to eat a certain way nor do we have any dietary restrictions, so even if you don’t care about gluten/grain/dairy free eating, trust me you will still love these! I’ve eaten my fair share of every kind of brownie, and these still stand up to be my absolute go-to favorite!
I have been making these once or twice a week for 3 months now and I have zero shame in admitting that! We never tire of them, they’re that good!
Because some recipes are exciting once. But these brownies are exciting every single time!

A double batch at my house will disappear in less than 24 hours and one of my kids will ask “How are the brownies already gone?” That’s how you know you’ve found the brownie recipe!
They’re both indulgent and nourishing at the same time!
Make them once and don’t be surprised when they become your new weekly tradition!

- Topped with fresh berries
- Drizzled with decadent homemade chocolate syrup
- Slightly warm with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt
- Or straight from the pan with a fork. No judgment here!

What Substitutions work well?
This recipe has been made and tweaked so many different ways. And there are a lot of substitutes you can make to the ingredients to better suit your diet:
- Almond Butter –> Sub any other nut/seed butter like Cashew or Sunflower Butter
- Maple Syrup –> Sub Coconut Sugar, Maple Sugar or Cane sugar
- Egg –> Sub Flax Egg
- Cacao Powder –> Sub Cocoa or Dutch Cocoa Powder
- Ghee –> Sub butter or Coconut Oil

Can I double this recipe?
100000% yes!
In fact I highly recommend you double it every time or you’ll regret it after they’re gone in one sitting! 🙂
Double the batter and place it in a 9×13 pan, following the same directions for baking.

Can I make these into individual brownie muffins?
Yes!
I often bake these in muffin cups because they’re the perfect individual size for my kids making them the perfect (less messy) dessert option.
They cook in less time too. So in about 10-12 minutes they are done!

Why are these brownies so fudgy?
Because their main ingredients are almond butter and maple syrup.
It’s all about the balance here and because of these two ingredients they don’t dry out.
The natural oil from the almond butter and the moisture from the pure maple syrup keep their center tender for days (if they last that long) and they even get better by the next day!
They’re not heavy, just moist, soft, tender and oh so decadently rich.
If you love that slightly underbaked brownie texture, then you will be obsessed with these!

What additions can I add into these brownies?
I love a classic brownie, but sometimes I like to switch it up and add in some other fun ingredients like these:
- Chocolate Chips
- Caramel Sauce
- Sprinkles
- Candy Canes
- Nuts
- Pretzels
- Nut Butters
- Marshmallow fluff
- Fruit (dried or fresh)
What additions would you add?
